China-Uruguay Agricultural Trade Conference
China-Uruguay Agricultural Trade Conference
On October 25th, we participated in the Conference of Economic and Commercial Agricultural Exchange and Cooperation between China (Shandong) and Uruguay together with the Official and Business Delegation of Shandong Province, P. R. China.
The meeting was organised by the Uruguay-China Chamber of Commerce in order to exchange knowledge in the fields of cooperation with the participants.
Among those present were Mr. Chen Ping, Vice Governor of Shandong Province, Mr. Juan Ignacio Buffa, Acting Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, and Counsellor Jiang Minghui of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, together with other representatives of both countries.
On the occasion the NERA COMPANY team presented the services and products for investors who plan to establish in Uruguay, making use of the legal and tax benefits that the country grants with a view to a regional and global projection.
Chinese investment in Uruguay has grown, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture and technology. Infrastructure and energy projects have been significant, with Chinese companies involved in the development of wind and solar farms.
Although exports are strong in certain sectors, Uruguay is looking to diversify its export offer to reduce dependence on specific products.
Concerns about sustainable agricultural practices are on the rise, which may influence future trade policies.
Despite the global context, Uruguay has managed to maintain a favourable trade balance with China. The trade relationship between China and Uruguay is robust and expanding, with a focus on cooperation and investment. Product diversification and sustainability are key areas for the future of this relationship.
